Building and Intensifying Your Personal Brand

In the present day competitive world, branding has turned out to be more than necessary to stand out from the crowd. Companies like Coca-Cola, Apple, Google, Nike, etc are immediately recognizable through their images and logos as they have been able to create a strong brand identity. Though, the concept of personal branding may seem odd to some people but, it certainly helps you to become a master of your preferred niche. Personal branding in simple terms can be defined as how people perceive you – the perspective of others on what you are offering in your area of expertise or what makes you best known for.

Personal Branding

So, you must be wondering how you start establishing a strong brand identity?

Setting Goals and Proper Planning

Before you develop your brand, setting certain goals and planning accordingly is extremely important. It is crucial for you to figure out why and where you wish to see yourself in future that will ultimately help you to find a way to achieve that goal. Your goal should be to let perceive you the way you’ve planned your self-impression.

Understanding and Believing in Your Brand

It is not only about maintaining a look and feel of your brand as well as communicating the same through social media accounts and a logo. Creating a corporate identity and maintaining that image throughout different mediums at all times is vital for your personal branding. The idea is to reflect the aims and values of your personal brand through all the things you own, all the things you do and all the things you produce. It is this core idea’s consistency that helps with the development of your brand.

There are a few other qualities which you need to focus on for intensifying your brand as well as generate the kind of influence you are searching for.

Integrity

If you are thinking of a solid brand presence with a consistent brand image then, integrity is the key to success. A brand without integrity is like a house of cards and no matter how much effort you put in to solidify its presence, it will eventually crumble. Integrity tends to show up when you sacrifice your own interest for the sake of others. You let go of your personal gains for the betterment of some other cause thus, creating a good impression on others. However, maintaining integrity isn’t that easy as it requires a lot of courage to go against a popular opinion and stand on your own principle.

Being There

Maintaining your existence is not about being the most visible or loudest, but something that combines your confidence, style and demeanor. For example, when great leaders talk, they may say only a few things but it creates a significant impact on the minds of the audience. This is because they do it with a lot of gravitas. You aim should be to show that you’re thoughtful, open-minded as well as interested to listen to what others are saying.

Demonstrating Skill and Knowledge

It is definitely worth the appreciation when you carry out your job in the best manner possible however it is equally important for you to demonstrate your skill and knowledge. Your focus should be to always stay updated on the latest issues and trends covering your industry. Who knows, a little information from a daily publication can bring you the desired attention in a business meeting and increase your chances of a promotion. Thus, you need to grasp every opportunity that comes your way providing you with a chance to demonstrate your prowess or present your knowledge.

Trustworthiness

Trustworthiness or reliability is not really an option as people always expect you to be dependable. If you are not reliable then, people tend to assume that you are disorganized and selfish which in turn, affects your personal brand. You should always return emails or calls even if you don’t feel interested.

Generosity Creates Influence

The question may arise in your mind that how is generosity related to personal branding? Often at times, you’ll notice that people restrain themselves from helping others as they don’t find any benefit in it for them. Well, that is surely something which you must avoid. When you help your co-workers without aiming to get credit, it helps you to grow your influence and increase your followership that adds to your brand intensification.

There is no doubt about the fact that proper planning act as the foundation for your personal branding. However, your ultimate goal should be to create a self planned impression that equals how people perceive you.
